Client Spotlight - Jack Cartwright

This is a special Client Spotlight as Jack was my first coaching client. Through our time together, I’ve seen Jack surpass many milestones: moving states, becoming a father, getting married, and two promotions. I could list many other things, but one of the most significant changes I’ve seen in Jack from our work together is his ability to develop self-compassion and understand his harsh inner critic.

He has examined his thought patterns and changed his relationship with himself to be kinder and more understanding. None of this has come at the cost of performance. Witnessing people transform is the reason I became a coach and I’ve loved being part of Jack’s life.

Why did you sign up for coaching with Hannah and not another coach?

Hannah is so personable and genuine and invests in her development by having a coach and a therapist. It is inspirational.

What was the biggest challenge you faced when you signed up for coaching?

Lack of career direction and people-pleasing tendencies which affected all facets of life. Also, being hard on myself.

What have been your biggest takeaways from our time together?

I've changed my relationship with myself and my close circle. I've developed the ability to show self-compassion and have tough conversations at work and socially.

What improvements or positive changes have occurred in your life since we started working together?

A technique I learned is to put my hand on my diaphragm and ask what my body needs. I've also prioritised my time on what is most important. Two promotions and pay rises in 18 months.

What specific strategies or techniques did you find most helpful in achieving your goals?

I've been able to practice the techniques Hannah gave me between sessions like giving feedback. She also encouraged me to build my leadership development profile by observing effective leaders and what I could take in and seeing ineffective leaders and thinking about how I would show up differently.

What advice would you give to someone considering working with Hannah?

Be honest with yourself about what coaching you actually need. I came to Hannah for management progression but I got so much more.
